African Americans set aside February as the month to take pages of history books and bring it to life. Time is taken to remember, to reunite, and to rededicate themselves to African American history. During Black History Month, the memory of African-Americans like Dr. Martin Luther King are honored, as well as acknowledging and celebrating current history makers like President Barak Obama.
Has Black History Month outlived its usefulness, considering the election of an African-American to the presidency? Many feel that African-American history should be incorporated into year-round education.
